Join independent jeweller Josefina Flello Martinez of Atypical Thing for an introduction to the ancient art of wax carving at Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter Museum. In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how jewellers use wax to create wearable sculptures before they are transformed into precious metal through the lost wax casting process.
Guided by Josefina, you’ll carve, shape, and refine your own ring design using traditional jeweller’s wax and hand tools, creating a truly one-of-a-kind piece.
No previous jewellery-making experience is required. Whether you’re drawn to organic textures, chunky signet styles, or something completely unique, you’ll be supported through the design process from start to finish.
At the end of the workshop, your wax ring will be collected and professionally cast in recycled sterling silver, then finished, polished, and posted back to you a few weeks later.
